September 18-All Radiation is NOT created equal!

The past few days have been spent getting prepped for radiation, this includes a mold of me from thigh to ankle, permanent ink dots (6 total) that will never make a pretty tattoo,  and a temporary neon pink outline of 4 inches above and below my knee, this is the target zone that the radiation will be given.   So today was labs and chemo after which I had my first radiation treatment.   I had an older chemo nurse today whom I had never met and I nearly jumped out of my chair when she put my line in, this is not acceptable, where do some of these nurses go to school, the college of torture?   Anyway, there was concern about me getting chemo and radiation at the same time but Dr. McNulty  did not think it was a good idea to miss even one treatment let alone 2, so here’s hoping I don’t get sick or lose my hair.  Speaking of which, the past several days my hair has been shedding like you wouldn’t believe, I an feel the difference when I brush it or run my hands through it.  Now, I don’t mind losing my hair, I know where to find cool wigs and cool hats, but I do mind the prospect of looking like a dog with the mange!!!   The up side is that I almost never have to tweeze my eyebrows or shave my legs, how cool is that?

Now about radiation, totally painless and only takes a few minutes once they get you lined up with the magic rays.  I have a total of 10 treatments, 1 down 9 to go.  Here’s the crazy part, they tell me that I can’t tan while getting radiation because the tanning bed gives off radiation, how insane is that?  They are already blasting me with high doses and they are concerned about  a tanning bed?    Mind you, the tanning beds radiation is so miniscule as to not even register, but still…I don’t mind waiting to tan again and I know there are some of you out there that think it’s unsafe or unhealthy, here’s what I have to say about that-thank you for your concern, and I love to tan so nana nana poo poo!!  Plus, when you consider the fact that I will be cremated it’s really just a pre-emtive  move!  I crack myself up some times, now laugh cause you know that was funny.

Anyway…..for several day my legs hurt so bad and were so swollen it was hard to do anything, then I wake up this morning and I felt so much better even my range of motion was improved.  Do you think my leg knew it was in trouble and facing radiation?  Well that’s the update for now bur keep praying for me to follow and obey God’s calling on my life.

My dear friend suggested I read this scripture and I want to share it with you because I think it sums everything up.  My fingers are going to sleep, this happens occasionally  so I won’t type it out but please please read it.  You’ll be glad you did, I was!
