October 3 Learning as we go

This week was another busy week and the rain made it difficult to get things done outside the house.   My sister still has bouts of nausea and throwing up but each one is less severe as time goes by.   Sheila’s next chemo appointment is on the 12th and then the severe throwing up starts all over again, and by the second round she will begin to lose her hair.  My appointment on Thursday went well and we learned something very interesting, the med combo I am on is NOT chemo, it is a combo of hormone receptor positive injections used to stop/slow my hormones from making more tumors.  I just pulled up the information and discovered it’s what they give MBC patients when there is no more chemo available!  The good news is that it seems to be working.  This was also my first week of going to the YMCA and participating in the Living Strong program which was designed for cancer patients and survivors.  The first day we went through a workout and I was upset at how little I was able to do with the intensity that I use to be able to.  Having said that, I reminded myself that it will take some time but eventually I will be pleased with what I can do.  I also accept the fact that I may never get back to where I once was and that’s o.k, I figure that God is teaching me something that I need to learn.  Here’s a cool note: Dr. M showed me a stretch that actually helps relieve the tightness in my left hip and leg.  It’s hard to believe that in the time I have been diagnosed with cancer both my sister and brother have also been diagnosed with cancer.  The year is almost at an end and by the grace of God we will all be here to welcome in another year.  I know from talking with my siblings that we have all learned so much and have come to really appreciate life and family so much more, and I have grown closer to the Lord.

2 John 1:9

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.  He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
