March 29-What do you see when you look at me?

Today’s short blog is mostly geared toward my church people because we have a big decision coming up and I just wanted to give my opinion. Today’s guest preacher is a younger man with a wife and family, he has years of experience and an out going personality. I think that most if not all of us at church are looking for similar things in the man that will be replacing our “beloved” pastor. I want a pastor the teaches from the King James Bible, that has a desire to see and make our congregation grow, that gets fired up when preaching the word of God (no pulpit pounding please) that is available for and knowledgeable in biblical counseling. Now we may not want to admit it but a good personality is important! There are of course many other things to consider when the time comes to vote on a new pastor but for what it’s worth, I was impressed with today’s candidate. He made the sermon interesting, cross referenced scripture to coincide with previous scripture, he gave us a glimpse of his personal calling from God and overall kept me interested and I actually could have kept listening long after the sermon was over. I am not a fan of change and I can be a tough grader so for me this was an assurance from God that things are going in the right direction. But, as I said…this is just my opinion. God will lead us as we pray!
Now, I got a text from a very special and long time friend a little earlier. The text was a birthday wish for Justin and to see how I was doing. I asked how she was doing and she didn’t want to tell me because as she put it “I(meaning me) have so much on my plate” which of course refers to George and all that he brings to the party!! I told her what I want to tell all of you that love and care about me and who I feel the same about: Cancer affects my body not my mind or heart! When I ask how you are it is because I care and want to help in any way that I can, if I can’t do it physically I will tell you but it doesn’t impair my ability to listen or to pray. Please don’t treat those of us with cancer or other illness as if we will break, allow us to be the same people we were before illness stepped in and added a new dimension to our life. I can really only speak for myself but I imagine others feel the same, cancer takes a lot away from us and yes, it changes things but when you look at us or talk to us think of the person we were before cancer and USE us!! Most of the people in my life see Robyn, not George and I am very thankful for that, and I know that the other group have the best of intentions. I am also thankful for the concern that is shown for and toward me, everyone likes to feel special! Please allow me to share in your concerns, prayers are powerful and the more the better!!
I love you all,
Robyn

  1. I’ve receiving instruction on what a Romans 14 church looks like. What Federal Headship Nominalism is and how it affects the church particularly the adult members. I think it is important now that a Pastor is very careful to keep primary issues such as the Gospel and doctrines of grace and Gods character at the forefront and secondary issues such as baptism and eschatology in the background. Although church constitutions don’t always permit that. It would take a long time to explain what I’m talking about. If you are interested the website is http://www.thewellboise.com. Click resources then click audio then scroll down you will see filter by series tab on the left click it and choose…..What is a Romans 14 Church. I think it will be challenging to you.
