June 26-The Right Combination

Well it’s been 3 weeks since I’ve blogged anything because frankly there has been nothing new to tell. The weeks have passed with more of the same, aches and pains, good days and not so good days. My parents and I went to see Dr. McNulty yesterday and to begin a whole new combo of chemo and a new bone strengthening med. It turns out that I have actually used both of the chemo drugs before but not in combination, one being the very first chemo pill I ever took called Femora which I take every day, the second being 2 shots that are injected a few inches below my sacrium one on each side and will be given every 2 weeks for a month then once a month thereafter. The meds in the needles must be warmed up to thin them out in order to allow less pain upon entering my body. The pain comes later with swelling and tenderness at injection site, ice packs and ibuprophen help a lot. The new bone med is injected in my upper arm like a shot and the medicine itself burns like crazy. When I consider all of the drugs and different ways I’ve received them not to mention some took as long as 2 hours to receive, this new system works pretty well for me. Other than being tired the first day and sore for a day or so longer I don’t anticipate any side effects. I am excited to be going kayaking for the first time in my life thanks to Roseanne who was willing to go with me, and come September I will go horseback riding for the first time in nearly 2 decades thanks to Judy who I was pleased to learn enjoys it as well. All I have left on my list is to learn to play one song on the piano, Roseanne is going to teach me! She is very patient and I am not so let’s All be praying for her. I’m not sure that I will blog every week but I will certainly still blog and keep you all posted on anything new or changing. I have a strong feeling that God is calling me to do something more but as of yet he hasn’t revealed it to me. When he does you all will be the first to know but until then please continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
With much love,
Robyn
