February 28-What would you do?

During my period of recovery I have been doing a lot of scripture reading and movie watching, among my favorite movies is Evan Almighty.  If you haven’t seen it you really need to because I believe every one of us has faced something that God wanted us to do and yet we fought it tooth and nail until it became clear that God wasn’t changing his mind and we finally do what he asked us to do.  In the movie a very uptight, anal, newly elected congressman moves his family from Boston to California where strange things begin to happen to him.  In short, God wants him to build an ARK because there is going to be a flood!   Now of course he thinks it’s all a joke until God shows him that it’s not and over time the congressman begins to look like Noah, animals are following him everywhere and he and his family grow closer than ever AND build the ARK.   The movie is a real feel good movie but the whole time I kept thinking of how many times I fought God when he wanted me to do something and WHY did I fight so hard?  Well I know why I fought.  Sometimes it was fear, sometimes I convinced myself that God didn’t really mean me and sometimes I just ignored it all together because I wasn’t sure how to start what God wanted me to do.  I have grown a lot over the years and now more than ever I pray that I don’t miss an opportunity to serve God.  I know it was just a movie but like I said, it got me to thinking and I wanted to share because I think that sometimes we know that God is calling us to serve him but for whatever reason we fail to move.   Listen carefully and God will call on you and when he does don’t be afraid to move.

I’m not including a scripture this time, instead I am challenging you to find a scripture that speaks to you on obeying God.
